This model has a fixed power supply and up to 139W of Class 4 PoE Power for flexible power options. This model has a switching capacity of 68 Gbps and a throughput capacity of 45.1 Mpps. The JL679A ensures simple deployment with Zero Touch Provisioning and management flexibility with support for Aruba Central, HPE's cloud control platform.

The HPE Aruba Networking JL679A has built-in Layer 2 services, including VLAN support, port mirroring which duplicates port traffic to a monitoring port and improved performance of large data transfers, supporting a frame size of up to 9,220 bytes. This model is also equipped some Layer 3 features such as Domain Name System (DNS) which provides a distributed database that translates domain names and IP addresses or simplified network design, supporting both client and server.
